Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Trieste on the occasion of the 57th Inner Ear Biology Workshop that will be held from Saturday, September 10, to Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has thrown meeting professionals in an unprecedented position with cancellations, postponements and venue closures during 2020 and 2021. We are thinking of a more optimistic future; we are extremely honoured to have the occasion to host the IEB 2022 annual workshop in Trieste, which has been recently awarded the title of the European City of Science. Therefore, we would like to provide an inspiring scientific environment where young scientists and physicians, together with experts from all over the world, will exchange their knowledge in hearing loss and come back enriched from this experience.
The meeting will be preceded by an opening Symposium entitled “Hearing loss: from inner ear biology to the development of innovative therapeutic approaches”.
Due to the strong genetic background here in Trieste we want the workshop to be focused on the genetics, pathology and therapies of the inner ear, highlighting the importance to bridge basic research into clinical application. Excellent keynote speakers will give stimulating talks that will lay the ground for discussions and contribute to further translational activities.
We believe that you will also enjoy our beautiful city, Trieste, together with nearby Slovenia. You will appreciate the union between the sea and the countryside, all the local food and wines that will make your stay even more pleasant. Moreover, September is one of the most beautiful months to visit this region, and an attractive social program has been planned for all delegates and accompanying persons to make your participation at the IEB Workshop even more memorable.
